Spring break could not have come at a better time. I was definitely "done" in our last week (interestingly Song of Songs) and needed to just get out of my study room. 37 books of the bible down and over 1560 hours of study completed and yes I am still alive, though not necessarily sane. You can see why I might need time out.
3 friends and I ventured in a little car, Jepeto (it became like a friend) to Seattle first then up to Vancover, Canada where we caught 2 ferries to get to Salt Spring Island. This place is incredible. Like New Zealand and Norway mixed together. The scenery was breath-taking but what was more incredible was REST. Yes, I highly recommend it. We stayed at one of the guys houses which was set in the trees with his AMAZING family. These people, this place, just what this Dr ordered. We read, watched TV for the first time in months and just did nothing. Yes I believe this is what other people call rest! And boy did I love it.After spending 5 days doing nothing my friend and I did what was originally going to be a 3 hour drive, that quickly became 9 hours, up to Whistler. Oh my goodness. God is so cool to make mountains like that. Canada is so beautiful, it was the most scenic drive of my life. The highlight was spending a few precious hours with my friends from home. What a blessing, just to reconnect with life outside of this crazy time, it was priceless.
The drive down from Whistler was a little more interesting. We got a little lost adding an extra hour to our drive down to Vancover, then I had a little wait at the border, not a big deal. We were doing really well until we hit the last "pass" or mountain range and it was a rap! There was snow and ice, trucks were flipped over and we were stuck for 4 hours. In the end we got home to Montana at 5 am after I had left Whistler at 8 am the previous morning. Long long drive but we got home safely praise God.
So all in all a great trip, wished it could be a week longer but worth every second. Now comes the last and what is said to be the hardest quarter of the school. We finish the last 29 books of the bible in only 12 weeks. Plus I will turn 30 and graduate in June then get ready to head off to Africa!
