As our environment changed around us so to has our world. This has been a month of incredible challenges, tragedy, pain, praise and pressing into God. When nothing makes sense and you just can't do anything ... press into God. This has been a month of storms. Two (wonderful) students left within two days of each other, another (18 year old) was ordered to go into surgery to remove a lump that could be cancerous then the unthinkable ... two of our great friends had a horrible accident right here and he almost died on the scene. That was all one week. The next week we have also lost a staff member who is also struggling with illness. The storm felt so overwhelming, as though there was no way out of it.
But from this we saw the power of God rock our world. Our friend did not die and has continue to defy all the odds by progressing where it was thought he wouldn't. God is doing great things and through his recovery is still a long road he is doing great considering. In the midst of this people had incredible times with God. The whole community here came together to pray corporately and is has changed the way we are as a group.
In the midst of what felt like great storm was a clear message - When the purpose of something is missing, look to what is not - GOD!! He never left us and His character does not change even though circumstances, emotions and life does - He is always good.
This is what I have learnt through this storm: HOLD ON TO WHAT YOU KNOW!!
- God is faithful, He didn’t just leave, He is in control even if I can’t see it
- I can trust Him (more than I can trust my emotions, mind and experience)
- This storm will pass so Hold on – don’t let this be the end
The reflection has been a blessing and though we are still in the midst of a lot of this I can see the rays of light … clear skies are coming!
